The Glory

March 3rd, 2012

In the Glory, I will stand.  In the Glory, I will rise.

The prophet Ruth Ward Heflin wrote of the Glory, after pioneering many revivals, that the Glory was the New.  What, before, could take years, could happen very quickly in the glory.  Where a church she knew could have been 5 years away from revival, it could happen within a very short time in the Glory.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

The glory of the Lord is most wonderful.  It is intoxicating and exhilarating.  It is consuming, energizing, and, sometimes, debilitating.

The term Theophany refers to seeing God.  The term Christophany refers specifically to seeing Jesus Christ.  Throughout the Old Testament and the New, many people saw God, and saw Christ before and after His earthly ministry.

Many people saw God or angels in various forms.  At times, they fell down prostrate, and at other times they did not.  But, one thing is certain, when they saw the glory, they were changed forever.

Then Moses said, Now show me your glory.

Exodus 33:18

Moses knew where it was at.  Moses knew his Deliverer.  Moses asked for one thing, the glory.

It was the glory that transformed Moses so that his face glowed.  Beyond that, it was only even the backside of the Lord, the trailing after of His glory, and not the fullness of the front.

It is said that later, when Moses died before entering the promised land, that the Lord had to command him to die, which he did.  It is speculated that Moses had seen so much of God that if God hadn’t told him to die, he wouldn’t have.

The glory, when it touches us, destroys our lives, and we cannot continue on with our life the way we once lived it.  This is an apt rendition of the phrase “But … you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” (Exodus 33:20).  When His glory comes, we are instantly, and irrevocably changed.

We are not made perfect with one touch of His Glory, of course, for even Moses was not without his mistakes. But as we live a life in that place of the tabernacle, of beholding the Lord, we are changed from one degree of glory to another, from one realm of glory to another.

What can captivate the soul like the radiant burning of the Lord?  What can so enrapture a body like the divine, eternal touch of the master?

What is the one defining mark of the Kingdom?  The Glory.  Not necessarily what many people call the glory.  Many people talk “glory” but really only operate in anointing.  But, when it is the glory, it is all God.  When it is the glory, no flesh may exalt itself there.

When the glory comes, and comes upon and within, we have no place for sin.  It is like that highway of holiness upon which sin cannot enter in (Isaiah 35:8).  There is no unclean nor abominable thing there.  It comes in that place of worship, where it sits upon a person, a meeting, a house, or even more.  It may be greater or lesser.  But, when it is the glory, it is divine.

When the glory abides, it changes your insides.  You become more loving, and the loving that you wanted to do becomes easier, because there is no burden in the glory.

When you see into the glory, you see all of time.  Your spirit, one with the Holy Spirit, sees all of Eternity as a one, from beginning to the end, without distinction.  You could as easily see the beginning of creation as the end judgement of all time, in the glory.

In the glory, there is no time and there is no lack.  Heaven is now, because we are in it, and when it is not held, all of life is out of line.

How could a man live in a place other than this, once he has tasted and seen of it?  How could anyone ever give his life to anything but the furtherance of this Kingdom, having touched it.  Self ceases, striving ceases, all because we are in His realm.  Love exists and all passion is met, simply because of His presence and sustaining Grace.

The ignorant heart cannot know this place, because it is alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance in them due to the hardness of their heart (Ephesians 4:18).  You cannot even truly “know” anything in this realm, as the carnal man might know it, but can only be it.  For, he who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought.

The conversation on the outside is always different, but to those who are spiritual, we express spiritual thoughts using spiritual words (1 Corinthians 2:13).

Paul’s prayer in Ephesians was that the church might receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God.  By this, they would come to know and understand themselves, and not from another.

His job was to teach them, and to intercede for them, until Christ was formed within them, and as a faithful shepherd, keep them for his Master.  Yet, in the end, they were taught by God!

For, in the place of the glory, is the revelation.  In the place of the glory is the flow of answers.  Despite what any man may say, or how they may try to reinterpret this verse because they do not seem to see it apparent in their lives, we DO have an anointing from the holy one, and we know all things (1 John 2:20 KJV).  For, the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10).  What was hidden to the former dispensation of the Old Covenant is revealed to us, yes through the Holy Book first and never contradicting it, but through His Spirit, even as it was to Paul.  Even as it was to Christ.  Even as it was to countless voices since then.

In the glory I will stand.  I will stand, and lift my hands.

In your glory I will see every miracle you have for me.

It is in the glory that arise and shine, and in the glory of a new day, we will.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.
