Being of His Thoughts

January 13th, 2012

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Ephesians 4:17

The mind is of the flesh, and is no more capable of producing the righteousness of God than anything else.  All of the Gospel is supernatural, from it’s birth, to it’s resurrection.  What man could not do, either through the law or otherwise, in his weakened state of the flesh, God has done.  Any notion of Gospel thoughts that does not entirely depend upon the Lord, from inspiration and revelation, to the walking out of it in the streets and the paths of men has no more possibility of producing an Eternal result than would planting a seed from one type of tree with the expectation of producing another.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit (John 3:6).  It is only the anointing that breaks the yoke (Isaiah 10:27).  The end sum of the matter, when we are desiring to see the change in the Earth for the sake of His Kingdom, is if the miracle does not come the way we wanted, it is simply because of our own faith (Mark 11:23).  While God, who is rich in mercy, knows all along when something truly is too much for us, and sends us by another way (Exodus 13:17).  He will often take us a longer way, simply to teach us how to walk by faith, so that once we reach our Jordan, and our promised land, that we are fully prepared in faith and His Spirit to take the land before us.

Being of His thoughts is available to us today, for we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).  He has made us partakers of His Spirit, and His Spirit searches the deep things of God, and because we have an anointing from the Holy One, we know all things (1 John 2:20 KJV).

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

1 Corinthians 1:27

To be of His thoughts is what we are about.  We do not have time or place in our own heads for His thoughts.  He is more than capable of keeping us, and informing us of what we need to know.  This does not negate the need for faith, but only increases it.

But, in the flow of His Spirit, the spontaneous wisdom of Heaven comes into our thoughts.  The still, small voice can speak to us in the space of our thoughts as our every impulse, whim, and desire are fully saturated, and satiated in Him.

Isaiah the prophet prophesied, “Who is blind but My servant, Or so deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is so blind as he that is at peace with Me, or so blind as the servant of the LORD?” (Isaiah 42:19).  The anointed servant of the Lord must not quarrel,  instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful (2 Timothy 2:24).

The thoughts of the carnal darkened and separated from the life of the life of God.  They cannot feel Him, they cannot perceive the spirit realm at all, let alone His Holy Spirit.  They are cut off from light, and live by searching out how to fill out their sensual pleasures.

But, to be of His thoughts, alive and one with Him, is our portion.  He wants us to be in Him, thinking His thoughts, obeying His every leading, for He is our good Father.  He desires us to know Him as little children (Matthew 18:3), and to seek Him continually (1 Chronicles 16:11).

His thoughts lead us first to sit as His feet, to desire Him continually.  Afterwards, they lead us out to do His will as He is prepared to send us, on the duties of His heart.  His ways are perfect.  His timing is impeccable.  Yet, the only thing that God can use within you is Himself.  He can never do anything with anything else.

If He must wait until all self-promotion, and selfish ambition die, it is better for us.  But, for us, with our eyes only on His Kingdom, His righteousness, and the fruit of those in Eternity, it is a safe, steady walk in the Holy Ghost.

His is faithful to train, equip, and to lead us through the storms and the lion’s den of men who are false.  He is able to strip you, and tell you what you are lacking.  We must never be afraid of a sincere rebuke from someone inspired of the Lord, even when we are trying our best, because it is for our good.

But, His thoughts lead us, and as we submit our every idle moment of our delight into Him, and as we surrender our every thought and energy to Him, He purifies the depths of our soul to hold more of Him.  We really can find all of both our labor and our rest in Him.  If we truly learn to hate the discipline of this fleshly life, push on when He says push on and stop when He stops, then we remain in His house.  If we set our mind upon Him, and receive the truth that to follow His Spirit is the only “law” we live (the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:2), whether we face encouragement or disdain from our fellows on any decision, we rest in the fact that we have pleased the one we serve.  We do not serve others as masters, except through the Spirit.  And as the Spirit serves all men, in fully submitting the Holy Spirit, through the Spirit, we become the servant of all men.

Good or evil has never been our portion to attempt to pass judgement on.  We cannot do good, except by His Spirit (Mark 10:18).  But, if we chose to partake of the fruit of the tree of life, rather than of fruit of the tree of the the knowledge of good and evil, we will live, and because we are doing truth (John 3:21), we do the will of the Father who sent us (Matthew 7:21).

We are united with the Lord, so let us have our every movement be kept in perfect coordination with Him (Galatians 5:25).  It is one thing to be what we call  “prophetic”, and hear a thought from the Lord, it is another thing altogether to become those thoughts, live by those thoughts, act out of those thoughts, and impart those thoughts.

If we let the word come into it, and “eat the scroll”, as John did in Revelation 10:9, we will become the words, and not simply speaker.

God wants a complete, total commitment from all of us, given totally of love and our own desire, out of seeing who He is, and living out of that place.  As we come closer to the flame, there can be little left of ourselves, until, out of the great love and desire we have for Him, we surrender fully, give in to that great lover of our souls, and let Him have us completely.

God doesn’t need much of a person, so long as He can have all of a person.  If we would honestly, sincerely, out of a good heart, give our entire being to Him, surrender it completely, and give away the key, the God of all the universe would take over.  It wouldn’t “solve all of your problems”, so much as a carnal man might think of it, concerned only with the flesh, but your heart will always be happy, and your soul can find its rest.

God is on the throne, and He is in charge.  He will have His way.  Let Him.
