Ground Floor

March 27th, 2012 Comments off

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:14

The ground floor of the church building is the life of the Spirit, that is, being led by Him.

There is no other life, no other functional place of ministry than to be spiritually minded, and any ministry that occurs outside of that will only reproduce after its own kind.  Any other form of church is a hollow, man-made shell, with no lasting fruit nor legacy.

Jesus came and demonstrated the first spirit-led life.  He was cut off from this Earth through the waters of baptism, lived apart and separated in the Spirit realm of the Holy Ghost, and only after His death was he granted brothers.

The Spiritual Man #7 – Judgeth All Things

March 10th, 2012 Comments off

The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment:

1 Corinthians 2:15 NIV

You see, it is the spiritual man that is free.

According to Paul, he, the spiritual man, judges all things, and yet is judged by no one.

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

1 Corinthians 2:15 KJV

He that is spiritual judges.  He that is spiritual is not subject to other men’s judgement.

The man led by the Spirit is not under the law.  He neither looks directly to it for his direction nor does he receive criticism or accusation that he has violated it or has transgressed it.

The Spiritual Man

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

1 Corinthians 2:15

The world has not seen, within the space of several generations anyway, a host of spiritual men.  There were of course plenty through history, and there have been great pockets of notable names even in the darkest hours (Revelation 3:4).

Today, the world has had it plenty of people afraid to judge, afraid to speak, and afraid to have any bold opinions, but this is not how it was at the beginning.

Practicality

They only asked us to remember the poor– the very thing I also was eager to do.

Galatians 2:10

Upon Paul’s visit to the first apostles, after seeing the mutual grace given to each other, the apostles only additional commission upon Paul was this, that he remember the poor.  As Paul indicates, he was already being led of the Lord in the same direction, for it was the very thing he desired to do.

The Lord is close to the broken hearted, and His ears hear their cry.  If we are to be of the Kingdom, and listening to the voice of the Father, it will invariable lead us to take care of the poor.  It will lead us to men of the highest, and lowest caliber, for the Lord is the Lord of the whole Earth.

Lakeside

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore.

Matthew 13:1-2

The crowds came to Jesus.  Thousands had heard of the miracles following this man.  This man, who was God, had the wisdom of the Eternity within His heart, and He chose to take a moment to go out to the lake.  Perhaps He went out to pray in a quiet place, or possibly to rest for a moment, but, whatever the reason, the crowds surrounded Him until He was pressed on every side.  While the masses swelled, He entered a boat and taught them, while the people came.

Everyone wants the miraculous, the signs, wonders, and miracles, but who wants the reason behind them?  We want the power, but who wants the man?  We want the demonstration, but who wants the price he paid?

No Pearls for Pigs

December 30th, 2011 Comments off

Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Matthew 7:6

The Scriptures are sufficient for the Christian life.  They show the way of Salvation, Jesus Christ, and they instruct in righteousness, fully equipping the man of God for every work of service.  The Scriptures are not the sum total of everything knowable about God of course, for Jesus Himself said that He had much more that He wanted to share that He couldn’t, because it would be too much for His disciples (John 16:12).  The Holy Spirit is here to guide us into all truth.  But, when that comes, the object is not necessarily to write a new book about it.

Freedom

September 30th, 2011 Comments off

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1

God wants us free.  He wants you free, He wants me free.  He wants me to point you to His freedom, and you to point me there.  He wants each of us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
