My All

[H]im that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 1:23, portion, edited

Him that is all deserves our all.  He that is everything demands our everything.

No portion of this life is worth comparing with His.  No piece of this preparation is on equal with that which is to be revealed, and is here now.

There is only one way, one truth, and one life, and we must love Him and choose to follow Him.

A man was being forced to leave his position as book keeper due to his infidelity.  Knowing that he couldn’t stay where he was at, or keep what he had in a very short time, he acted very shrewdly.  Using what was available, he made friends of where he was going, thus guaranteeing a better life when he lost his current position and arrived where he was going (Luke 16:1-9).

We too, have received our notice of eviction.  Everyone, from the smallest to the greatest, from the worst sinner to the mere man who has only sinned “small” (though there is no small with God), stands condemned, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  There is none that seeketh good, they have all turned aside and become filthy.  From the greatest pagan spiritual leader to the most vile murderer and assassin, we have all received the just sentence.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:18

Yet, this shrewd manager understood that he could do something while he still had time.  He could use his resources, what he still had, to make something better for where he was going.  He could use what he still had to “buy friends”, so to speak, on the other side of his impending “death”, for that is what it was.  To avoid the hell of begging and digging, he chose to be shrewd.

We, too, will lose all we have.  Every program, every church service, every act of the flesh, even seeming good ones, do nothing in the judgement hall of Eternity, but only, ever, the Eternal blood of Jesus Christ.  His blood bought sinners, and ransomed many to the Father.  His punishment was ours, and brought us our peace.  His sacrifice, perfect, was our substitutionary sacrifice, accomplishing the Lord’s perfect justice.  As it is written, He is just and the justifier of the wicked.

As with the steward, there is nothing of this life that we can keep.  No riches, no position, no fame, no pleasing of men.  Only that which pleases God, doing His will, will move Him, and that is to believe.

Some may want to preserve a small portion of their life, but why?  Some may attempt to simply get in the door, and still enjoy this earthly life as it is.  But, as with the shrewd manager, it is all worthless.  It is not a wrong thing to have enough possessions to get by, or to have a surplus, or to have a house or places to live.  These are requirements of life, and God makes us stewards of these things.  But, like the rich young ruler, if they have us, we run the risk of losing Him.

That He would have us completely, in our heart, and then all that we possess, all that we do and are, would be His.  He is not after our possessions, but us!  If He fully had our heart, and it could not be moved, He could trust us with wealth, even as He does His Son (Revelation 5:12).

But, life does not consist in the abundance of one’s possessions.

I choose to give Him my all.  Every day, every moment.  I choose to pick Him up again, and walk with Him.  I choose to seek Him.  Because of His great mercy.  Because of His great love.  Because He draws me, I must run.

In the fullness of His Grace, His Might strengthens me.  In the abundance of His power, I am removed from my place, and moved forward to a higher location.  Because He is my fortress, I shall not be removed.

His strength is on High, and I exalt in nothing but Him.

No miracle, no judgement against an evil, no victory over any enemy is worth comparing to the excellency that is found in Him alone.

I will set my eye solely upon Him, and I will gaze.  He will be the lifter, and the Glory of my head.
