Bloom

March 23rd, 2012

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.

Song of Solomon 2:1-2

In the garden of the Lord, blooms a fragrance.  And it’s fragrance spreads abroad in the walls of our heart.  Flowers of the Lord burst forth, and His delight and wonder spread abroad in the pathways of our lives.

Fragrance mixed with fragrance seeps up, like a whirlwind of opportunities, colliding to make one beautiful residue.  The planting of the Lord springs forth, as a bloom among the thorns, to the most beautiful of ends.

The Lord caused the flowers to grow upon the Earth.  He spoke, and like the trees, and like the rivers, He caused them to happen.  His heart was in them.

Temporary spots of beauty, forgotten in a season, to be replaced by another, but never forgotten in His eyes.  Every one, known, wanted, clothed in beauty.

They spring forth because it was His heart that they would.  They are caused to be, simply because He wills.  He sees their every petal and every leaf, and chooses each one to grow.

They neither labor, nor toil, nor spin.  They simply grow.  There is no striving in their life, but sees that they are clothed with beauty and spleandor.  Though no one knows their name, He knows their not only their number, but their days, which are short.

Though the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon them, He chooses them, from the foundation of the Earth, to cover His fields, His empty places.  And, man in all of his glory does not even come close, for He chose the foolish things to shame the wise.

With their simple voices, they speak, “We Grow!”.  Not because they are anything special, but simply because He is, and He has commanded and spoken forth that they be fruitful and multiply.  Even in a fallen world, they do their Father’s bidding, and cover the Earth with their life.

Spreading, multiplying, and diversifying, as wind crosses pollen with stamen, color wraps with fragrance and spreads life through the rocks and the mountain meadows.

In the midst of the grass, hidden down deep, the smallest of flowers bloom, and proclaim color and multiplicity.  Though a searcher may choose one, what is there to distinguish one from another, except for chance?

His beauty, His planting, spreads throughout our heart, throughout our lives.  His work, though it seem small and of little value, is the greatest treasure.  His seed, planted within our hearts, becomes the largest, and the birds of the air find their nest within it.

Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.

Song of Songs 4:16

His delight is in it, for He has made it.  Though it has forced to see corruption, His heart is that even it would be redeemed.  Though it is but dust, it is His dust, and His desire is for it.

Through the blood of the Lamb, through the way of the cross, He has ordained a better way, a living covenant.

As man was cursed in the Earth, it is the Kingdom which redeems the curse, and brings forth His life.

This is the way, in Him.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Romans 8:18-25

The creation itself longs to be liberated, for the flowers to be free from even their death.

For though it is subjected to futility, there will come a day when even the Earth itself could be freed from its corruption and come into the freedom of the glory that we, the children of God, have at our access right now.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name

John 1:12

For, as He has given us the right, and as we grow up in Him who is our Head through His work on the cross, we become His body, the complete man, mature and complete in every good work, lacking nothing.

And, the flowers, the plantings of the Lord, come to full bloom, and the earth yields its fragrance, an offering acceptable to the Lord.
