A Sign to be Spoken Against

March 14th, 2012

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

Luke 2:34

For His name was Immanuel, and He was God.  He was with us.  And He was here.

There is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be disclosed.

For, it pleased the Father to crush Him, and by His stripes we were healed.

This man, this all bright one, this delight of all our heart, it is He that set the nations, it is He that formed the Earth.

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Matthew 16:4

No sign given but the sign of the prophet Jonah, for man demanded a sign, but God gave them his heart.  His prize, His first, His possession, His own, He gave, and in giving, gave all.

For, what else is there to a man but what he leaves, and what he accomplishes?  It is not in the legacy of a man that he is remembered, great or small?  Is it not in his offspring, and in his name?  But, God commended His love for us in this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

This fairest of ten thousand, this lover of my soul.

For this was a sign to be spoken against, yet one to be praised.  For, God gave a sign to bring His day, not to hide it, and it is marvelous in our eyes.

This sign, this marvelous sign, this beautiful one, this perfect child, He is the apple, He is the lover of my soul.

The first shall be last, and the last first.  For, in His presence is fullness of joy!

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out all fear.

What is a sign, but a divider?  What is a display but a lesser way?  For, in His light, we see light, and with Him is the fountain of life.

Why would one look upon the dance of the Shulamite like that of any maiden?  For surely, the nations are as dust upon the scales to Him, and by His right hand doth He uphold the heavens?

Are the heavens so vast as to trouble Him?  Are the islands so numerous that He does not know their names?  But, surely, the people are as grass, and their glory is as worthless before Him.

At His right hand are pleasures forever more.

What is man that thou art mindful of Him?  What is the Son of Man that you care for Him?  For you made Him a little lower than the angels, and yet you, you yourself, crowned Him with splendor and honor.  Surely, what is man?

But your delight is with the children of men, and in them is your pleasure.

Thank-you Lord, that you are ever for me, that your hot displeasure breaketh not out against me.  Thank-you Father, that you have not forgotten your innocent ones, who go about before your altar continually.  Thank-you Lord, that you have not passed over the flock of your pasture, the sheepfold of your inheritance.  For you watch over your child, and you cover Him.  Yet, you are hot displeased with his enemies.

Thank-you, Lord, that you are near.  Forever faithful.  Forever friend.

This is love, to life, to know you, and only you.  This is your will, that you might be known by me.

Thank-you dearest Father, that you are near.

But, for the unbelieving, for the vile and unbecoming, your complaint goes on before them, so that they are consumed.

Quiet and confidence do hold my salvation, and I am kept in your love.

Thank-you dearest Savior, that your love is here.
