Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.

The product of knowing about the Kingdom is to bring forth treasures.  These treasures are New, created now.  We refer back to the word.

Isaiah 48:6-8

You have heard; look at all this. And you, will you not declare it? I proclaim to you new things from this time, even hidden things which you have not known.

They are created now and not long ago; And before today you have not heard them, So that you will not say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’

You have not heard, you have not known. Even from long ago your ear has not been open, Because I knew that you would deal very treacherously;    And you have been called a rebel from birth.

God created new things.  Things created just then, and not some other time.  This is what Jesus is saying.

In the Old Covenant, of which the teachers of the law were experts, were old treasure.  The law, the tabernacle, the things of the Old Covenant are great treasures.  They are true words, tried seven times, refined in the fire, and perfect words.  After Heaven and Earth have passed away, they will still remain.

But, when Jesus told a man with a withered hand to stretch it forth, the hand that opened up was not the old, withered hand, but a new one.  When he spoke to spoke to the storm, that was not the old, stormy sea, but a new calm.  When He told the man with the mat that his sins were forgiven, the man’s freedom was not his old bondage to sin, but a new freedom.

Jesus spoke with the authority of heaven, and did what He saw His Father doing.  He spoke once in time past, and the worlds were created.  He spoke again, and eyes were re-created where they were not before.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17

We never leave the word.  As we study and teach the Word, we will bring forth treasures from of Old.  We will bring forth truths about who God is, how He showed himself strong on behalf of those who have gone before.  Yet, as we learn the truths of the Kingdom, the Spirit of Prophecy comes upon us (Revelation 19:11), we come to know God, and are taught by Him!  We do not need anyone to teach us, for we have an anointing from the Holy one, and we know all things.

These in no wise contradict, but enhance each other.  If one person has a song, hymn, or revelation, let him share it, and edify the body, allowing everything to be tested.  If someone else receives something while the first person is speaking, have the first person sit down and let the second go.  There is room for us all to share, and to prophesy.

As we open to the Lord, and as our faith grows, we learn to hear from Him.  We never contradict the Word, and it is always our final standard, but even as Jesus said, even his apostles couldn’t bear what He wanted to share.  He would send the Comforter, and the Comforter, the Living Holy Spirit dwelling within would guide them into all truth (John 16:13).  If they could not bear it then, with the Christ with them, it is quite plausible that many of us have not grown to the full level of faith to receive some of the very same things that Jesus wanted to share to them then.

But, Peter obviously learned something.  In Acts 5:15, Peter had so been changed in the Presence of the Lord that his shadow passing over the sick healed them.  If He found something in the Father that caused those around him to be healed, and God is no respecter of persons, all we must do is imitate the faith of this man, and live thus.

Jesus said that where your treasure is, there your heart is also.  To Abraham, the Lord said that He Himself was his shield and his exceedingly great reward.

There is nothing else that can ever compare to the excellency found in Christ.  There is nothing else that can ever compare to Him.  As we learn the secrets of the Kingdom, as we learn faith and go from glory to glory, we find we truly are crucified to this world, and this world is crucified to us.  We must not become entangled in it.  God wants you fully in Himself, and wants the totality of your heart.  The Kingdom must be allowed to take precedence, and to rule over all.

It will not have free reign to rule over all the nations of the Earth, until it rules over all the nations of your heart, of your “earth”, that is your soul.  Where your treasure is, there your heart is also.
